What is a waterproof, eco-friendly alternative to vinyl labeling for products like perfume and body wash?
Question by southabi: What is a waterproof, eco-friendly alternative to vinyl labeling for products like perfume and body wash?
My sister is starting a small business of eco-friendly, vegan beauty products and we’ve run into a hurdle. We need to figure out a waterproof alternative to vinyl labeling for the bottles. We were thinking of attaching the product information on post-consumer cardstock, but then we run into the problem of the products having no label if the consumer takes the card off.
Any suggestions?

Very thin cloth ( like flour sacking ) with a water proof glue. The cloth can be printed with indelible ink ahead of time before gluing. The glue could be one of those watered based glues that becomes water proof after it dries.
What about using a rubber stamp with permanent ink, right on the bottles?

Basement waterproofing – Foot drains OK around oil tank?
Question by ed_omalley: Basement waterproofing – Foot drains OK around oil tank?
I am moving forward with addressing a water problem in my basement. One company performed an assessment and wants to put in an interior perimeter drainage system, which is fine, but rather than move the oil tank that’s against the wall, they want to put in foot drains around the tank. Another company said that they’d move the oil tank and build the full trench up against the wall. My question is…what are the risks of going with these foot drains?

Any tips for waterproofing bathroom walls?
Question by It’s the hair: Any tips for waterproofing bathroom walls?
I’d like to tear down the wallpaper in my bathroom and put something (fairly inexpensive) on the walls to make them look nice and stand up to moisture. Probably a paint of some kind.
Any ideas?

Parents, did you have to waterproof your basement for extra play space?
Question by amber 18: Parents, did you have to waterproof your basement for extra play space?
I know waterproofing basements isn’t a “parent” question, but since I’m a parent, and I’m doing it for play space for my son… I hope you’ll accept the link.
Have you waterproofed your basement? How much did it cost? Did it work? Has it ever leaked again?
We just bought a house and there is some damp water problems… we want to fix it up. Just looking for some advice or experience from other parents. Thanks!
PS – Do you use a humidifier, and what kind? How much did that cost?
THANKS!

How to fill joints in a stone swimming pool with simple materials?
Question by : How to fill joints in a stone swimming pool with simple materials?
We live in Africa and are adding stones to our concrete pool walls and floor. Sophisticated materials being hard to find here, I was wondering what could work for filling the joints. The joints are about 1/2 inch wide and our materials that are available are:
- portland cement
- white cement
- tile cement (they call it glue cement), it’s basically grout
Going based off of these, are there additives or techniques that could make this work and be waterproof?
Thanks!
Gael

Answer by Jp
the tile cement might work if its like grout. it should be water proof its used in kitchens and bathrooms! A technique that would work is a tuck pointing bag its like a cake decorating bag put the cement in it and sqeeez it in the cracks and then smooth it out.

Q&A: Can anyone think of a product that is not on the market, that could be esay to produce?
Question by Peterpe: Can anyone think of a product that is not on the market, that could be esay to produce?
It is a homework assignment. I´m supposed to think of a product that is not on the market, and that could easily be made. For example, a vest that measures your body temperature, and it gets hot or cold depending on what you need; or an iPod waterproof case. It can be on any topic such as cooking, cleaning, electronics, sports, entertainment, etc. Just something really simple.

Consider making steering wheel covers out of silver-impregnated anti-bacterial cloth. (research it, there is such a thing) The cloth could be purchased in bulk and made either by hand in a low labor cost manufacturing environment, or the process could be automated. The target market would be anyone who owns a car and is concerned with hygiene.

Q&A: Compact Digital Camera Case – Shockproof? Waterproof?
Question by henry w: Compact Digital Camera Case – Shockproof? Waterproof?
I am going on a month long expedition to central america and wish to take a digital camera.
I was wondering if anyone knows any very good case which are strong and avoid my camera breaking (acer digital camera or canon).
I know there are lots of very good ipod cases so i was wondering if there are any for cameras?
If not are there any specialist cameras – e.g.OLYMPUS MJU-770
Thanks in advance,
Hennerz123

Answer by Nathan Grammatico
um, i’m not sure, i know that they have cameras that are shockproff, freezeproof, and waterproof, i know that they have cases for cameras, but i wouldn’t think they would have a case that can fit around the camera and protect. I mean, it can protect the camera whilst it is in used.
they will probably have a waterproff housing for your camera, but that’s where the money comes in, next time mention the name of your camera to help me better answer your questions
anyway, the link for the camera is :
http://www.amazon.com/Olympus-Stylus-790SW-Waterproof-Orange/dp/B000UW3DB6/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1211729913&sr=1-10
it would be a good investment, and is resistant to the elements. Bye, i hoped that i’ve helped you more
Yours Sincerely,
Nathan Grammatico

Question about a general contractor’s waterproofing/basement work?
Question by Yes?: Question about a general contractor’s waterproofing/basement work?
In 2/ 08, our basement flooded. We didn’t have a waterproof system, so everything was torn out. The contractor put in a baseboard, trench, and sump pump (with battery and backup pump). He verbally warranted his work for life and said it would be in writing when he is paid in full.
Last week, the pump stopped working. We called the contractor and a new pump was installed.
Tonight, we went downstairs and there was an inch of water on the floor. We immediately called the contractor. He told us that the pump had failed and went to get a new one. He told us that he had originally installed a 1/3 pump and it couldn’t handle the workload. To “hopefully fix it,” he installed a 1.5 horsepower pump and said we may need to get a ¾ pump.
My question is: should the contractor be responsible for knowing that a smaller sump pump will not work in a high water area (which HE mentioned)? My furniture and new walls are ruined… what are my options?
He did not say there would be a charge for the pump replacement. Considering his (lack of) work ethic, I would assume he will send a bill.
He did suggest that we go and buy another sump pump so that we have a spare if this happens again.
My final question… sorry this is so long…. Should he be reported?
Best answer:
Answer by DAN Y
I would say that the contractor is responsible… as a professional it is up to him to know or find out what the proper size pump is. You hired him as an expert to supply and install the right equipment. He evidently did not do so.Did he charge you for the second (1/3 HP ) pump or did he honor the warranty?

Is eyeliner annoying to wear?
Question by : Is eyeliner annoying to wear?
I am thinking about wearing eyeliner. Only thing that holds me back is that it could make you look like you came out of a Tim Burton movie if you cry or get caught in the rain. So, is there any eyeliner out there that is nice and comfortable to wear, smudge-free, and also waterproof?
Any insights would be helpful!
Best answer:
Answer by Qwerty
the Stilla Liquid Eyeliner is great!
Of course, it’s annoying to wear. I hate doing fine on one eye, then the other eye looks horrible. Then you have to start all over again. Now, I don’t wear any. I feel like it makes my eyes look too heavy.
